The small Mediterranean towns of the Costa Maresme and Costa Brava are small elegant pearls, strung, as if on a thread, on a railway line along which silent trains run from Barcelona... And if you are a real traveler, a real “pearl fisher”, for whom The beaten paths and routes written in all guidebooks are not interesting, you will definitely “dive”, for example, into the wonderful Pineda de Mar...

And stay there for a long time... In Spanish, “el pino” means pine, and the name of this wonderful town literally means “pine forest by the sea.” These Mediterranean pine trees, framed by Pineda de Mar, coupled with wonderful beaches, which are awarded the UNESCO Environmental Blue Flag every year, are the main attraction of this quiet town. Pineda's beaches with silver or yellow-golden sand stretch for 3 kilometers, reaching 40 meters in width. Remember how the now half-forgotten Arkady Gaidar did? “Our town of Armavir was quiet, all in gardens...” The town of Pineda de Mar is ideal for a family holiday, with its absence of crowds of tipsy Western tourists, as in Lloret, for example, and in other “party” vacation spots in Costa Brava and Maresme fits this definition very well, adding to the Gaidar gardens, which also exist in the surrounding area, a wonderful microclimate, given its location almost in a Mediterranean pine forest. Here you will breathe surprisingly easily, and if you rent a bicycle (there are paths for cyclists) or a “miracle of the 21st century” in the form of a family bicycle for 3 or 4 people (rental cost 15 euros per hour), you will get great pleasure, slowly driving through the amazingly beautiful town...

But as they say, this town is not only remarkable for its beach and pine trees, which I advise you to first tour on a small tourist train with the Xino-Xano locomotive (about 10 euros...) The first buildings in this place date back to the 4th century BC n. e. You should definitely see the preserved part of Montpalau Castle (12th century) and the Church of St. Mary, which began to be built in the 11th century, but belongs to the architectural monuments of the 16th century. If you are not impressed by the façade of this baroque church, perfect in its completeness and impressiveness, then it’s definitely time for you to go to tourist “rest”... Since the people reading this Internet resource are clearly not one of those, then I’ll say frankly, this church - one of the most interesting things that I saw in Spain, and I saw quite a lot... There is also the Can-Jalli Palace (15th century) nearby, those who are interested in the “traces of the Romans” scattered throughout Europe can pay attention attention to the ancient Roman aqueduct and watchtowers, quite well preserved. Well, what would Catalonia be like without Art Nouveau? Be sure to see the Sports Pavilion in this style... Although in order to see Art Nouveau, it is better to go to Barcelona, which is only 57 km from Pineda de Mar, and you can get there by train in less than an hour...

And, of course, in Pineda there is a tourist part with good hotels, bars, restaurants... This town is small and not noisy, but the Placa de les Melies square and the Paseo Maritimo embankment, where city festivals are held and the most popular bars are located, stand out for their diversity colors and liveliness. Well, the most famous and noisy club on the coast, Sky, is booming there. Therefore, this is not exactly a vacation for pensioners...) In addition, very close to Pineda de Mar there is the town of Tordero (it is inland from the coast), where there is a show "Knight's Castle" with a dinner without the use of cutlery, a knight's tournament, in which you will take an active part in supporting your knight, and flamenco (about 60 euros), as well as the wonderful flamenco show "La Masia", which I advise everyone to attend. There is a Catalan dinner, where you cut your own Catalan sausages and cheeses, but, most importantly, there is a flamenco show, guitar and Spanish singers that is simply stunning in its sincerity, colorfulness and professionalism. It costs about 50 euros, but you will get an unforgettable pleasure from this show.

Near Pineda de Mar there are the same pearls of the Mediterranean - Santa Susanna, Malgrat de Mar, Calella... Don’t be lazy, go there too, especially since there is a train going to Santa Susanna... Well, , of course, while vacationing in Pineda, it is unrealistic not to go to the nearby and alluring beauty of Barcelona... Just as it is unrealistic to leave this paradise of pines, sea and sun dissatisfied. Have a nice holiday in a pine forest on the shores of the Mediterranean Sea in wonderful Catalonia!

Pineda de Mar is a small town located north of Barcelona, that is, practically in the northern part of Spain, on the shores of the Mediterranean Sea. Visitors, or rather tourists, can be found here at any time of the year, and not only Spaniards, but also residents of different European countries, which is why many hotels operating in winter are equipped with heating, and some with indoor swimming pools with heated water. But since we are more interested in the summer season, we will talk about it, or rather, what time is the best time to come on vacation to Pineda de Mar to get maximum pleasure from a beach holiday.

Let me start with the fact that some people start coming here as early as May. I can’t say that this is bad, since everyone has their own taste and preference, especially since in May you can calmly enjoy the warm rays of the sun. The only thing that will not be entirely comfortable is the water temperature of the Mediterranean Sea, since in these parts and for this time of year, it practically never happens above eighteen degrees Celsius. HOLIDAY PRICES:

Cost of a holiday in Pineda de Mar. July 2014.

    tour cost

The two of us vacationed in Pineda de Mar for 2 weeks, stayed at the Merse Hotel (2 stars). The visa cost 7 thousand, it was opened for six months. The total cost of the trip with flight from Novosibirsk to Barcelona, transfer to the hotel and meals based on breakfast cost 120 thousand.

We only went on excursions with travel agencies to France (Nice, Cannes, Monaco) and Montserrat. The first was taken from our guide for 200 euros per person, the second from a street agency for 25 euros per person. A ticket for the tourist bus "Bus Touristic" costs 27 euros, an excursion to the Camp Nou stadium costs 45 euros. Both excursions were great, with Russian-speaking guides, there was a lot of free time. We went to Barcelona on our own, to do this we went to the train station and bought tickets at the box office, round trip travel for two people cost 20 euros, the ride takes an hour and 10 minutes, you need to get off at the Placa Cataloniya station, which in itself is one of the attractions of Barcelona . If you go to the left of it, you will find yourself in the Gothic Quarter and follow the signs to find the Cathedral, the entrance ticket costs 10 euros, but there is a very long queue. You can also get to the port, the Olympic Park and La Rambla on your own - to do this, cross the square and go down the street. If you want to visit the Sagrada Familia, go in the other direction from the Gothic Quarter and after Gaudí's Casa Mila and Casa Batlo, turn right. The walk takes about 30 minutes, the entrance ticket costs 6 euros, but there is no need to go inside - there is only scaffolding there.

    Food and products

In the cafe, prices are relatively inexpensive, a whole pan of paella cost 9 euros, king prawns - 16 euros, mussels - 9 euros, French fries - 2 euros. Baked fish with salad cost 4.5 euros. Ice cream costs from 2 euros per scoop, if you take it in a waffle cone, then 2.8 euros. Alcoholic cocktails such as a mojito or pina colada cost 6 euros, a glass of sangria costs 3 euros. On average, lunch for two cost us 30-40 euros including alcohol. Be aware of the portion sizes, they are very large. We were surprised by the prices at the local Carrefour supermarket, fresh pastries (there are 6 pieces in a package) cost 2 euros, half a kilogram of cherries cost us 60 cents, a bottle of water cost 30 cents, carbonated drinks cost 1 euro per liter, 0.33 beer sold for 64 cents, chocolates cost from 50 cents to a euro, chewing gum cost 20 cents.

    Souvenirs and other goods

For clothes, in Pineda de Mar we bought a warm, good quality sweatshirt for 6 euros and a T-shirt for 11 euros, since shopping in Barcelona is much cheaper. We bought a handmade bag (16 euros) and a watch (10 euros). The cost of magnets ranges from 1 euro to 5 euros. Lighters can be bought for 1.5 euros, keychains for 4 euros. A souvenir bottle of local wine costs 5-6 euros, the wine is very tasty and good, homon costs 8 euros, local cheeses from 5 euros per kilogram. Souvenir plates, depending on size, cost from 6 to 20 euros. Bears dressed in the uniform of the Barcelona football club cost 4.5 euros. A Barcelona soccer ball costs 10 euros.

What to take with you on vacation?

If you are going on holiday here in August, then you will need light summer clothes. It's also worth bringing a couple of warmer layers, such as jeans and a sweater, as it can get chilly at night. I advise you to definitely take an umbrella with you in case of rain. If you are going to often go on excursions, as well as visit Barcelona, comfortable shoes will not be superfluous. I would like to give separate advice about the beach. Although the coast of Pineda de Mar is considered sandy, I would say that this sand is more likely to be very small pebbles, and quite sharp. So it is better to have suitable beach shoes with you, because walking barefoot here is not very pleasant.

Where is the best place to stay?

Despite its small size, the town of Pineda de Mar can safely be called a developed tourist center. There are many hotels here to suit every taste and budget. When choosing a place to stay, it is worth considering the fact that the most expensive hotels are located closer to the sea. So you will have to pay extra for a beautiful view from the window. We lived, one might say, in the center of the city, and did not suffer from this at all. The road to the sea took us about 15 minutes. Our hotel was called Montpalau. The hotel has 3 stars. I was pleased with this place. We had a small, clean and bright triple room with a balcony. Towels were changed every day. Meals at the hotel are organized as a buffet. It was tasty and varied. There was a hairdryer in the room. At the reception you can ask for an iron, as well as consult on all your questions. Just keep in mind that the hotel staff speaks English and Spanish, so if you are not very fluent in the languages, it is better to get a phrasebook.

What to do at the resort?

The city of Pineda de Mar has a very well developed tourist infrastructure. There are many shops, cafes and restaurants here. The city has historical sights that are worth seeing with your own eyes. These include: the ruins of an ancient Roman aqueduct, the Church of St. Mary, the monastery of Our Lady of Gracia, the chapel of St. Anthony, two watchtowers. Not far from the city on a mountain is the old fortress of Montpalau. Its walls offer an unimaginably beautiful view of the city and the sea. The Montnegro Nature Reserve is located around the fortress. It is worth a walk here, it is a very beautiful place, reflecting the beauty of the Spanish nature and the Pyrenees.

If you choose Pineda de Mar as your place of residence, you can easily get to Barcelona on your own. We went there by train. It runs frequently and a one-way ticket costs 5 euros. Travel time is about one hour. The trains are clean and comfortable. From the window you can enjoy beautiful views of the Costa Brava, as the railway runs along the sea. In Barcelona you need to go to Plaça de Catalunya, it is the very center. From here you have direct access to La Rambla. There are also Bus Turistic buses from Plaça Catalunya. For 28 euros you can ride around all the main tourist attractions in Barcelona.

In Pineda de Mar you can purchase excursions to all popular destinations. We bought two excursions from our tour operator. I recommend them to everyone! It was very informative and interesting.

The first excursion was to the Montserrat monastery. This monastery is located high in the mountains; getting there on your own will be quite difficult. On the way to the monastery, stunning views and breathtaking serpentines await you. Montserrat houses the main shrine of Catalonia - the Black Virgin Mary, considered the patroness of Catalonia. Anyone can make a pilgrimage along any of the three ways of the cross of the monastery. In the monastery store you can buy silver jewelry, icons, delicious cheese and liqueurs, handmade cosmetics, as well as many other memorable souvenirs.

The second excursion was dedicated to Salvador Dali. During the excursion we visited: Figueres, the place where the great artist was born, the Salvador Dali Theater-Museum, located in the same city, as well as the Gala Castle in Pubol. This excursion is an excellent chance not only to see many of the artist’s works, but also to learn a lot of new and interesting things about his life. On the way back we had a wine tasting.

The beach in Pineda de Mar stretches for several kilometers along the Mediterranean Sea. It is covered with very small and sharp pebbles, so it is better to walk in beach shoes. The descent into the water is quite sharp. The sea is very clean, beautiful turquoise color. Along the beach there are numerous cafes where you can relax, have a snack, and drink soft drinks. Here you can rent a sun lounger and an umbrella; we made do with our own towel. The beach has free changing cabins, showers, and lots of entertainment for children.

In Pineda de Mar you can buy a variety of souvenirs: magnets, key rings, postcards, etc. For clothes, it is better to go to Barcelona, where many famous shops are located. If you come to Spain, you should definitely try delicious cheeses, smoked sausages, prosciutto, wines, and European beer. You can buy all this in Pineda de Mar at the Carrefour supermarket. The prices here are very reasonable.

About the quality of food and service

In Pineda de Mar you will find many cozy cafes and restaurants. Maybe we were lucky, but everywhere we were, the service was at the highest level. The food is very tasty. Be sure to try the local hamburgers, this is not McDonald's. I have never eaten such juicy and tasty meat anywhere else. It is worth ordering seafood: mussels, shrimp, fish. They prepare everything here wonderfully. Try the local national dish - paella, and of course Spanish wine.

How much does it cost to eat? About food prices.

Breakfast in a cafe can be purchased for about 5 euros. Dishes suitable for lunch or dinner will cost from 10 to 35 euros. It must be said that the portions here are very large, so you can safely take one for two. A bottle of good wine in a restaurant will cost about 6-10 euros. You can safely not be afraid to take wine for a lower price, it is still very tasty and of high quality here.

Advantages of a holiday in Pineda de Mar

Pineda de Mar is a great place to relax. The city has a developed tourism infrastructure. This is a beautiful and cozy city. It has everything you need for life. Living here you can easily combine a beach and sightseeing holiday. The beautiful sea, green mountain peaks and stunning views will not leave anyone indifferent.

    - Holidays near Barcelona

Advantages: excellent holiday - calm, beautiful, cozy and inexpensive. Near Barcelona

    Disadvantages: no

I learned about a cozy place located not far from Barcelona from friends - they told us how well they had a rest there, there are few people, it’s quiet, there are no loud nightclubs and other similar entertainment, but there is a beautiful beach, clean and well-groomed.

After some thought, my husband and I decided to go there on vacation too, and we were right. In terms of price, it turns out to be cheaper than affording a holiday in Barcelona, and I liked it better.

So, in my review I want to talk about the small town in Spain of Pineda de Mar. There are a lot of impressions, I just want to tell you everything at once, but I will try to systematize my review.

    Pineda de Mar

    Briefly about the city

The city of Pineda de Mar is located on the Costa del Mareme, a place between the mountains and the sea, so the beautiful landscape from the window pleases every guest.

Barcelona is just a stone's throw away - only 50 km. You can get there by any transport at any time of the day. Unlike the large city of Barcelona, it is cozy and uncrowded, but if you need the entertainment of a big city, it won’t be difficult to get there.

The very name of the city, Pineda de Mar, translates as “pine trees on the sea.” It sounds interesting that I was intrigued by her before we finally decided to choose this particular city for our vacation.

There really are pine trees here - they are so tall that it seems they must be more than a hundred years old. Whether this is true or not, I can’t say for sure, but the fact that such tall pines purify the air is clear.

If you are not from Moscow, then first you will have to get to our capital, since regular direct flights to Barcelona start from Moscow.

In general, the Moscow-Barcelona flight departs all year round, but during the high season, charter flights are also added.

Once you arrive in Barcelona, consider that you are no longer there. It's just a little bit left to reach Pinada de Mar. You can go by car (take a taxi), or by train (it will take no more than 20 minutes). As you wish.

They immediately approached us with offers for a taxi, but the prices were much higher than we expected (we read other people's reviews, so we were approximately aware). By the way, the train is cheap, but a taxi can take you directly to the hotel.

I won’t dwell on this, since our review is not about hotels, but about the beautiful city. Regarding accommodation, I will only say this: there are not many hotels, but it is quite possible to find something that is good and priced and suits you according to your requirements.

The hotels are all pretty good, and many of them offer good rooms at an affordable price.

I would like to talk about this in detail: the beach is long, the sand on it is clean and pleasant. There is a lot of entertainment (quiet and calm) - for every taste: there are catamaran boat rentals, banana boats, and umbrellas with sun loungers. Everything is within normal limits, although on a sandy beach, it seems to me, you can do without sun loungers.

The water is clear, clean, the bottom is visible even at great depths. I think this is due to the fact that there are still few tourists in this small town.

The weather in Spain is good, but quite hot - the thermometer shows more than 30 degrees.

Regarding autumn, I know that it rains constantly there, and in winter the temperature is not lower than +5 degrees. By the way, since I don’t really like the sun, my husband suggested that I come here sometime in the winter. A tempting idea...

The holiday turned out to be simply wonderful: there were not many people - it was especially important that there were no noisy parties and music. More precisely, they are in the central part of the city, but if you don’t go there, then nothing will disturb you.

I walked through green squares, enjoyed a beach holiday and absorbed the wonderful spirit of beautiful Spain. The holiday turned out to be wonderful.

Pineda de Mar is a quiet small town located 60 km from the center of Barcelona and has gradually grown into a popular tourist center.

The local population is just over 26 thousand people, but a large number of tourists come here during the holiday season. This greatly affected Pineda de Mar. The city is divided into two areas: the old city center, located next to the parish church, and the promenade, surrounded by beautiful beaches, modern hotels, inns, apartments and summer residences. The city's infrastructure is very well developed.

Lovers of a “quiet” holiday will appreciate the picturesque city streets, shady public gardens, a beautiful promenade with sandy beaches and restaurants with open terraces allowing you to admire the beauty of the sea.

You should definitely take a walk through the wonderful Montnegre Natural Park, where Mediterranean forest predominates. The city will also be interesting for its cultural attractions and architectural monuments.

Fans of active life and recreation will not get bored here either. There is a water sports center next to the sea, and Pineda de Mar has a football field, a swimming pool and various sports centers. Shopping lovers will enjoy modern shopping centers and brand boutiques.

Vacationers can find here everything they need for a pleasant vacation. Therefore, the city has two centers of “day” and “night” life: plaza de Les Melies and the embankment (Paseo Maritimo). It is here that all the main city holidays are organized, especially City Day, which is celebrated brightly and cheerfully from June 22 to 24. During the holiday season, life here is in full swing both day and night.

Tourists who have been here at least once tend to return to Pineda de Mar again.

Pineda de Mar is located in the center of the Costa del Maresme. The history of the city goes back approximately 2000 years, and it is impossible not to notice this both in the external appearance of the city and in archaeological finds and art objects.

First of all, Pineda de Mar is, of course, a wonderful sandy beach, excellent tourist infrastructure, numerous islands of greenery with fountains and flower beds. But besides this, you can find many cultural attractions in the city.

One of them is the architectural work “Can Comas”, authored by Javier Mariscal. After enjoying the beauty and originality of this building, you need to look inside to appreciate the collection of graphic art of the Fundació Tharrats Foundation.

You can't visit Pineda de Mar without seeing the ancient Roman aqueduct. Scientists are still arguing about the time of its appearance, presumably from the 3rd to the 1st century BC. Its original length was 3.5 km, the height difference reached 40 meters, and along its route it supplied four rivers with water from a small gorge in the Val de Rio valley. Unfortunately, the aqueduct has not been completely preserved, but its four arches are in fairly good condition.

Of particular interest is the Church of the Virgin Mary of Pineda (Iglesia de Santa Maria), dating back to the 16th century. This building has an original facade, decorated with tiles, with unusual “tiled” domes, with a beautiful octagonal bell tower, completed in the 18th century. At first glance, it seems that there was originally a tower, and then this magnificent temple was erected.

Near the Church there is the Can Jalpi Palace (XV - XVI centuries). This building is also interesting not only for its historical and architectural value; today it has the status of the cultural center of the city. Connoisseurs of authentic art should definitely visit it.

It is also worth admiring the chapel of St. Antonia (capella de Sant Antoni), located on the street of the same name. Its construction dates back to the end of the 18th century. It still contains a carved altar created in the Baroque style.

There are also two watchtowers from the 16th century left in Pineda de Mar. - Torre de Santa Ana and Torre Mas Castellar.
