• Bulgaria is much better. All resorts in Bulgaria: where it is better for you to go

    13.08.2022

I love Bulgaria very much. Once upon a time, it was from her that my interest in foreign countries and Europe began. Having already visited many other countries, I was finally able to look here. Bulgaria will always remain a special place for me - it is similar to Turkey, Germany, and Russia, and therefore combines many of the advantages of the countries listed above. Bulgaria is also good because there are low prices for hotels, fruits, vegetables, food in restaurants and cafes, trips and excursions. The beaches here are clean and comfortable, suitable for a simple beach holiday for any Russian family.

Bulgaria is a beautiful country, picturesque and similar enough to Russia to travel around it without any worries. Bulgaria, of course, is not all interesting for tourists: mostly there are small towns and villages, half-abandoned, on simple plains. But there is also a stunning city - the capital of Sofia, which is half like a Russian city, half like a German city, and at the same time very authentic. In the photo below, the Golden Sands resort.

And the Black Sea coast of Bulgaria is absolutely breathtaking. There are incredibly beautiful traditional seaside towns recently restored by the state, large resorts with large hotels and large-format beaches, as well as wild bays where you can come by bus or car to enjoy their pristine beauty.

    beach holiday

Beach holidays in Bulgaria belong to the Black Sea coast. There are small towns with boutique hotels and apartments for rent, large resorts with large chain hotels and entire tourist towns, as well as small villages with picturesque bays for a relaxing, secluded vacation. For example, as in Sveti Vlas in the photo below.

Beach holidays in Bulgaria are especially good for the climate. Usually all the cities and villages on the coast are small, they have clean and pleasant air, there are no traffic jams or increased traffic, the noise of a big city. Another plus is spacious sandy beaches for those who are tired of pebbles and who are kind to this vacation spot. The brightest and cleanest beaches in Pomorie, near Burgas. And here is a gorgeous color.

I visited many cities in Bulgaria, traveled all over the country, somewhere I was only two or three days, somewhere two or even three or four weeks, and I can say with confidence that almost every place could become my home: it's nice, cheap and clean. I would say that Bulgaria is a great place to relax and live!

Conventionally, in Bulgaria there are four regions for a beach holiday, marked on the map with stars of different colors. The north belongs to such resorts as Varna and Golden Sands, here are the most popular resorts, where a lot of Russians have been resting for many years. From north to south, the list of Bulgarian resorts looks like this:

    • Varna is a large city with large shops and a port (there is also a beach here), and Golden Sands is an artificially created and very neat and beautiful resort village. These two resorts are located on the north coast.
    • The center belongs to Nessebar and where in Nessebar you can plunge into the Bulgarian culture, in Sunny Beach you can swim, and in Sveti Vlas you can relax from the hustle and bustle surrounded by green hills of marvelous beauty.
    • Burgas is good for those who want to come to a real resort city, and not an artificial one, to walk around the city, streets, shops and parks, which is not the case in most Bulgarian resorts. At the same time, Pomorie is a good place to relax with children, the water here is the cleanest, the entry into the sea is very gentle, simply the best in Bulgaria. - a great little village with a beautiful Old Town, which is very loved by Europeans.
    • And the wild south, where the villages of Sinemorets, Primorsko, Kiten and Ahtopol are located, is the last lower section for those who love a relaxing holiday by the sea in the wilderness, in the province, but with a pleasant climate and clean air. Learn more about each region below.

    Varna and Golden Sands (North)

Varna is a large city with a population of 335 thousand people. There are a lot of places for walking, beautiful green alleys and parks, classical architecture, many shops, restaurants and hotels. The city lives more independently of tourists than other cities in Bulgaria, so it may be of interest to those who want to see the real Bulgarian life with their own eyes. This city is perhaps the greenest of all. There are also good large beaches, convenient for tourists. The only negative is the presence of a port that pollutes the surrounding waters. I would advise you to swim in Golden Sands, nearby, and go for a walk - it is in Varna.

In August in Varna, an ideal vacation can be spent in a hotel for 50-60 USD per day for four in a good room of 40-60 square meters.

Golden Sands is a resort in which there are no local Bulgarian residents in principle. Everyone who works here in the service for tourists lives in Varna or at the hotel. Golden Sands is famous for its almost endless beaches, and the city itself, its streets, cafes and restaurants are very beautiful and well-groomed.

In Golden Sands, you can rent a room for four in a hotel on the first line for 100-200 USD in August and for 50 USD in a regular hotel.

Sunny Beach, Nessebar, Sveti Vlas (center)

Nessebar is a small traditional town on the peninsula, where 22 thousand people live, almost all of whom work in tourism. It is very pleasant to relax in this part of the country in peace and unity with the color of the seaside Bulgaria. There is also the Old Town with narrow streets, and very big beach in the Sunny Beach area.

In the center of Nessebar, you can rent a hotel room for four in August for about 60-100 USD.

Burgas is a very popular resort because of its low prices. In August, a room for four can easily be found for 40-50 USD.

    Non-tourist areas

In principle, you can see all of Bulgaria if you focus on big cities rather than urban-type settlements. All of it is quite colorful, and the cities are very similar to each other, with tiled roofs in the old center and with panel and other low-rise buildings in the new areas. True, I advise you not to drive near the borders to Romania, Serbia and Macedonia, but the borders with Greece and Turkey are friendlier.

    Where to go from Bulgaria

Many tourists who come to Bulgaria and understand that they are already in Europe are looking for which country to visit during a 7-14 day trip. This is correct, since two absolutely incredible countries are located south of Bulgaria - and.

So, in Greece, I advise you to visit Kavala and Alexandroupolis, and in Turkey -.

How to get around in Bulgaria

Many choose the train as the best solution for those who do not like to be tired while traveling, but I advise you modern air-conditioned buses. It is quite comfortable to ride in them, and there is much more privacy in relation to other passengers. Or you can rent a car and drive around the country on your own. Then even in 14 days you will be able to drive around absolutely the entire coast of Bulgaria, and in 7 days - half, which is also not bad!

The purpose of this article is to help site visitors choose a place to stay on the Bulgarian Black Sea coast. The Black Sea coast of Bulgaria has about two dozen resorts of various sizes: from real resort megacities to very small resort villages. Bulgaria is a country located in Southeastern Europe on the Balkan Peninsula. From the east it is washed by the Black Sea. In Bulgaria, you can relax on the sea, go skiing, walk and hike, visit healing mineral springs, temples and monasteries, many natural, architectural and historical attractions. If you have not been to Bulgaria yet, I advise you to definitely visit the resorts and beaches of Bulgaria, you will not be disappointed!

Before the next vacation, many Russians reasonably wonder where to relax in Bulgaria, because, for example, they don’t have the strength to go to Turkey, and Spain and Italy can’t afford it. The Black Sea coast of this country is not the longest, but it is replete with various resorts - both very popular and quite quiet.

A classic beach holiday is offered by the famous resort area Golden Sands, which is probably the best place where you can relax in Bulgaria in the summer as a family or a large company. The advantage of Golden Sands is its proximity to Varna Airport (25 km from the city) and excellent ecology. By and large, this is a beach area 3.5 kilometers long with a strip of golden sand 50-100 meters wide and various hotels along the coast. That is, there is all the necessary infrastructure for both a “vegetable” holiday on sunbeds and for active pastime - with playgrounds, water sports, etc. As for the sea, it is quite shallow near the coast, with a clean bottom, not a gentle entrance and an average summer temperature of about +24. The territory of Golden Sands is part of the natural park of the same name. Pipes with mineral water are connected to the beaches.

The places where you can relax in Bulgaria include the second well-known resort area - Sunny Beach, located 35 kilometers from the city of Burgas and 90 km from Varna, whose airport receives a huge number of tourists. The nearest town to the resort area is the ancient and historically interesting Nessebar, so here you can combine beach holidays and sightseeing tourism. The beaches of Sunny Beach are covered with sand, and as for accommodation, there are 5-star hotels, simpler and cheaper hotels, as well as apartments, guesthouses and villas popular among vacationers. In general, Sunny Beach is such a region of Bulgaria where it is quite possible to have a cheap rest, even if you book a room in a 3 or 4 star hotel.

Where it is better to relax in Bulgaria with the whole family is, perhaps, in Albena - a fairly modern (founded in 1969) resort of the country, located 30 kilometers north of Varna. The length of its beach is about 3.5 kilometers, and hotels of different stars stretch along it - only a few dozen. Albena functions as a single resort, and due to the comprehensively developed infrastructure, it is popular among families, as there are excellent conditions for family holidays. A separate plus is the more than 100-meter width of the beach. In the vicinity of Albena there is a natural reserve "Baltata" - a unique liana forest, which is a great place for ecotourism.
