But it does not give an idea of the rich content of the four terminals. A swimming pool, a cinema, huge shopping centers, butterfly and cactus galleries, prayer rooms of various faiths, comfortable escalators and moving walkways - all this is available at Singapore airport. Story
Singapore had several airports built in the 30-50s of the twentieth century. However, with the development of the country's economy and increased passenger traffic, they ceased to cope with their task. And urban development came close to these airports, so there was no way to expand them. Reconstructed in the seventies, the Kallang hub has already received four million passengers. But this was not enough. Therefore, in 1975, the government decided to build Singapore's main airport in a new location outside the city. In the eastern part of the island, near the Changi military airbase, a plot of land was alienated. Part of the territory was reclaimed from the sea by land reclamation by a Japanese construction company. Thus, the area of the airport increased to thirteen square kilometers. The calling cards of the hub (at least from a technical point of view) are a 78-meter control tower and a hangar that can accommodate three Boeing 747 airliners. The first terminal of Changi Airport was inaugurated with a flight from Kuala Lumpur in July 1981. At the end of this year, the results were summed up: over 6 months of operation, passenger traffic amounted to eight million, 63 thousand takeoffs and landings were made.
Development of services
Initially, it was planned to build two terminals. The second was opened a year after the first. But it soon became clear that this was not enough to make passengers at Changi Airport feel at ease. The third terminal, as well as the luxurious 9-story Crown Plaza hotel next to it, were put into operation at the beginning of 2008. How to get from Singapore airport to the city

Road to the airport

Terminal 1

There are two cinemas in Changi! And if, for example, in a Hong Kong airport cinema you have to pay a decent amount for a ticket, then here both are completely free - just come and watch! Free tour of Singapore
If you are in transit in Changi and your layover is no less than 6 and no more than 24 hours, you can take a bus tour of Singapore completely free! There are special counters in the transit areas of Terminals 2 and 3 called Free Singapore Tour. It is also worth mentioning that for financial transactions there are ATMs and currency exchange offices, and there are special rooms for smokers. All transit areas have mailboxes, and in the general area of Terminal 2 there is even a whole post office (open from 9 am to 6 pm on weekdays).
The terminals are interconnected by passages with travelators, and the SkyTrain high-speed train also runs between them with a short break at night (2:30 - 5:00). The journey by train from one terminal to the other will take approximately 3-4 minutes.
Despite many prestigious awards and accolades, Singaporeans do not think to stop there. Currently, work is underway to build a new, 4th terminal, which will make the airport even larger, more comfortable and more interesting. It's only the beginning!
