This is a quiet, cozy green town. We drank mineral water, swam in pools with healing water and explored the surrounding area. But since my friend and I are still young and we are full of energy, we soon got bored with such a measured way of life and we moved on to the capital of Georgia -.

There are quiet corners and noisy places, ancient and modern architecture, cafes and restaurants offering local cuisine or sushi and pizza... In general, everyone will find something for themselves here. We got to Tbilisi by car because we came to Georgia on our own. But there are other ways to get from Borjomi to Tbilisi.
From Borjomi to Tbilisi by train
The train from to departs twice a day: at 7:05 am and at 16:45 pm. Both flights spend about 4-4.5 hours on the road. Quite a long time, considering that the distance between the cities is only 150 km.

The train is a typical electric train, preserved from Soviet times. True, it is worth noting that it has been somewhat modernized. The cabin of the electric locomotive is overcooked and resembles modern high-speed trains (funny, considering that the train travels 150 km in 4 hours))) There are also changes in the interior - instead of benches, soft seats are installed. Otherwise, everything is like in the trains of our childhood. There are no dry toilets or air conditioning in the train cabin. The train has 5 carriages.
The train passes both railway stations in Borjomi, but it is more convenient to land, in my opinion, at the Park station.
Where to buy tickets
You can buy tickets at the railway station or already in the carriage from the controller. You can also try using the railway website to purchase. But as I understand, purchasing tickets is available only after registering on the site. And the website’s interface is not very clear. It's easier to buy tickets at the box office. Fortunately, many Georgians understand Russian without problems.

By bus
The bus is the second option to get to Tbilisi by public transport. A trip by bus will take almost half as much time as by train - only 2.5 hours. But the fare will also be higher. Starting from 7 am and until 7 pm, buses depart to the capital at intervals of approximately once an hour.
There are completely different buses on the route. They can be large or small (minibuses or minibuses), almost new or well-worn. It all depends on the degree of your luck. Therefore, it is difficult to predict how comfortable your trip will be.

By choosing a car, you will not depend on the schedule and on luck to travel in a brand new minibus or Soviet pasik.
But let's get back to our road. The distance between the cities is about 150 km. You can actually drive through it in 2-2.5 hours. It's impossible to accelerate too much. Firstly, the road is still mountainous. Wherever you go in Georgia, one way or another you will have to drive along serpentines. Even though the road is not a continuous serpentine road, sometimes you have to slow down. The second reason for taking your time is the stunning views. There are plenty of them on the way to Tbilisi.
The condition of the road to Tbilisi is average. Of course, Georgian highways are far from European highways in their condition, but the car’s suspension is clearly not in danger. There are gas stations along the route. There are also cafes. So neither you nor your car will remain hungry. In general, it’s difficult to stay hungry in Georgia))) It took us about 27 lari (about 10 euros) for the journey.
If you want to get there cheaply, choose the train. If you need to get there quickly, then take the bus. Even faster - only by car.
Almost every traveler in Georgia sooner or later faces the question of how to get from Tbilisi to Borjomi. This name is well known to all of us since childhood. But Borjomi is not only a famous brand of mineral water, but also a small resort town in South-West Georgia, which every tourist should definitely visit.
Legendary resort
Borjomi has only 14 thousand inhabitants, but during the tourist season its population increases significantly. This is a gorge city in the valley of the Kura River, sandwiched on both sides by forested mountains. The climate here is moderate and very comfortable: it is not very hot in summer and not cold in winter.
The city stretches for several kilometers along the river, across which several suspension bridges were built. There is probably no center in the classical sense here. The main tourist street, where there are hotels, cafes and restaurants, is called Kostava. Along it, any traveler can easily get to the city park, where pavilions with the famous medicinal mineral water are located. Borjomi is used as table water for diseases of the gastrointestinal tract and biliary tract. And in case of cardiovascular or nervous diseases, baths are taken from it.
In a remote part of the park there are 3 pools with warm sulfurous water. One of them is intended for children, the other is for swimming, and in the third (the hottest) you should just sit. In the summer they are literally crowded with vacationers who take healing spa treatments. But it is especially pleasant and comfortable here in winter: there are few people, and the water temperature does not exceed 30ºС.
However, Borjomi is not only water. There is a scenic cable car and a national park here. The famous narrow-gauge railway to the resort of Bakuriani begins from here. There are more than 200 historical monuments scattered around Borjomi. One of the ancient fortresses practically hangs over the city. Among the attractions, the palace of the Russian Romanov Tsars and the house of Mirza Khan stand out.

You can also get from Tbilisi to Borjomi by rail. Electric trains depart from Tbilisi railway station twice a day at 6:35 and 16:15. The journey takes a little over 4 hours. At Borjomi station the trains will be at 10:45 and 20:25 respectively. Tickets are quite inexpensive - 2 lari (about 50 rubles).
Taxi drivers know best how to get to Borjomi, of course. Taxi ranks are located in all central places of the Georgian capital. The fare depends on your bargaining ability. The price can range from 100 to 200 lari (2.5-5 thousand rubles). Estimated travel time is 2 hours. This option is especially convenient for small companies of 3-5 people.
Those who prefer to travel independently can use rented vehicles. People who traveled from Tbilisi to Borjomi in this way believe that the journey will take from 1.5 to 2.5 hours, depending on traffic and knowledge of the area.

The return flight to Batumi starts at 9 am from the bus station.
But there is also a good option with a transfer. To use it, you need to take any bus to Khashuri. Having reached this city, you need to get off at the roundabout and transfer to a local minibus to Borjomi. In just half an hour you will be at the treasured sources.
Those for whom this is not suitable can use taxi services. The distance by road is 267 km. The travel time will be 5-6 hours. And don’t forget to bargain: this is respected here.
