    The pearl of Quang Ninh province and, perhaps, one of the most iconic places not only for Vietnam, but for the entire South Asian region.

    Here are some facts about this place:

    • the bay is listed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site;
    • scenes from the films “Tomorrow Never Dies”, “Kong: Skull Island”, “Indochina” and others were filmed here;
    • There are small floating settlements in the middle of the bay;
    • Ha Long Bay has about 3,000 beautiful islands;
    • Sun World Ha Long has a cable car - the longest reversible ride in the world.

    Visit Ha Long Bay - This is a must for any tourist program.. Huge amounts of money are being invested here and it can be argued that this is the most dynamically developing tourist region in Vietnam.

    When is the best time to visit?

    For those who want an inexpensive and comfortable beach holiday, it is better to come to - or to -. The temperature is set at a comfortable level of 29-32°C. If the purpose of your visit is excursions, you can arrive from to. Winter in Vietnam is warm, with daytime temperatures fluctuating between 22-25°C. For long walks in protected areas, this is what you need.

    Reference! The worst months to visit Halong may be the second decade and March. At this time, light, drizzling rain often falls in the north of the country.

    Tourists are transported from Hanoi to Ha Long by minibuses, included in the price of the tour. One day costs from 30 to 200 $, it all depends on the class of the vessel and the program. Two to three day tours cost from 125 to 400$.

    You can also book excursions to Ha Long. One-day - 40-150$ , longer from 100 to 350$. The price includes transfer and support of a Russian-speaking guide.

    Boat trips

    You can see all the beauty of Ha Long Bay only from the sea.

    You can choose a tour to suit every taste and budget, for example:

    • One day boat excursion. Express option for those who do not have time. As a rule, it lasts about 4 hours and includes a walk between the rocks and a visit to floating villages. Cost from 20 to 60 $ depending on the class and type of vessel.
    • A tour for romantics or a two-day walk. By booking a yacht or boat with a cabin, you can fully enjoy the spectacle of a magnificent sunset and an equally beautiful sunrise. This excursion costs about $100, the price almost always includes meals.
    • Multi-day excursions. The best option is to buy a tour for 3-4 days and leisurely explore all the sights of Ha Long. The program usually includes an overnight stay at a hotel on one of the islands, visiting caves, and walking along the rocks. You will have to pay from $125 per person, plus payment for a hotel room.

    For those who like an individual approach, there is the opportunity to rent a boat and explore the bay along your own route. This, of course, is more expensive, but the guide’s full attention will be focused on you.

    Important! Any tour must be purchased at the pier ticket office or from travel companies. Street “tour guides” who supposedly organize trips simply resell these same tours at a premium.

    Caves

    Since the Halong Islands are karst, voids - caves and grottoes - are often formed in their rocks.

    The most popular places among tourists:

    • Cave "Paradise";
    • Mae Kung Grotto;
    • Thien Kung Cave;
    • Chong cave.

    All of them have beautiful lighting, specially equipped viewing platforms, steps and hanging bridges.

    Islands

    You can find very wild places where tropical jungles reign, and quite comfortable islands with hotels, parks and a full range of entertainment (Internet cafes, clubs, restaurants).

    The largest and most visited islands are:

    • Cat Ba;
    • Quan Lan;
    • Dau Be;
    • Titov (yes, this is an unusual name among Vietnamese names, which the island received in honor of cosmonaut German Titov).

    Note! Most tour operators that organize excursions around the bay offer overnight stays on Cat Ba Island. It is the largest, the infrastructure is developed here, there are many interesting places.

    Flight over the bay

    For those who are not surprised by boat trips, the local tour operator Northern Vietnam Helicopter Company offers a look at the bay from above. Flight over the waters of the South China Sea will allow you to fly in 45 minutes view the panorama of the bay. You can rent a helicopter alone (and pay for the pleasure more than $1000), and by a company, but no more than 6 people.

    Beaches

    Halong Bay is popular among lovers. There are beaches on almost every major island, they are all quite clean and equipped with everything you need for a pleasant stay. On the same Cat Ba Island there are several picturesque places for swimming, and in the city of Halong itself there is a good Bai Chay beach.

    Entertainment

    It is clear that the flow of tourists contributes to the development of infrastructure and Halong Bay is no exception. Local authorities do their best to promote and encourage the construction of new hotels, cafes, etc.

    Largely thanks to this, the unremarkable city of the same name has become a fully developed tourist center where you can find anything you want: from local exotic cuisine, to tennis courts and shopping centers.

    Night life

    The favorite entertainment of tourists in the evenings is to sit with a glass on the terrace of one of the many bars or restaurants and admire the sunset, and then the stars reflected in the sea. You can play billiards, dance in a nightclub or sing songs with friends in a karaoke bar.

    Judging by the reviews of tourists, you can have a good time in the following establishments:

    • Flightless Bird cafe-bar;
    • Blue Note Bar;
    • Noble House, with a restaurant on the ground floor and a bar on the second;
    • Ngoc Linh Restaurant.

    Since the main center of attraction for all tourists is the bay, many bars and cafes have become... floating. Water cafes and bars have a variety of shapes and sizes, decorated with lanterns and illumination and, admittedly, look enchanting in the middle of the night bay.

    Shopping

    It is unlikely that you will be able to find an outlet or a large shopping center in Ha Long. For this you need to go to other cities in Vietnam, and even better - to Thailand. Here you can only buy souvenirs and local seafood. But this is also a lot, especially considering that the prices for products are very low, and the assortment is amazing.

    The souvenirs that the locals offer are not Chinese plastic crafts, and real works of art made of stone, wood and metal. Another calling card of the place are the shops and pearl factories, in some of them you can get acquainted with the intricacies of production, in others you can buy ready-made jewelry.

    Attention! To avoid buying fake pearls, you need to rub the pearls against each other. If they slide easily and there is no resistance, they are plastic. In addition, any scratches and abrasions after such a check also directly indicate a fake.

    Where to eat?

    Like everywhere else in Asia, it is quite specific and that’s putting it mildly. Some people go to distant countries for this exotica, while others find all these delights in their throats.

    The following establishments are popular among tourists in Ha Long:

    • Restaurant "1958". Beautiful decoration, the freshest seafood and excellent cuisine. They serve Vietnamese and Asian cuisine, and there is a menu for vegetarians.
    • Restaurant "Wander Station". Excellent service and the best price-quality ratio. They also make the best coffee here.
    • Pizzeria "Rock House Pizza". Need a break from rice and fish? Here they will serve the usual European pizza, hamburger and, of course, French fries.
    • Chick Bread Restaurant. Another place designed for tourists. Sandwiches, pizza, chicken nuggets and wings, cheese sticks. Just what you need to sit with friends over a glass of beer.

    It is also worth visiting the floating restaurants, which offer fresh seafood dishes. Fish and other marine life splash in the cages; the visitor can only choose what to eat today. The staff cuts and prepares food in the presence of the guest.

    Hotel search

    • Booking.com is the world leader in hotel rentals
    • Hotellook.ru - compare prices for hotels in 70 booking agencies
    • Agoda.com - Find the best deals from 2 million hotels and inns

    To enjoy the beauty of this wonderful place, it is better to stop either in the city itself or in one of the hotels on the shore of the bay. There is another option, yes, floating hotels. For example, cruise ship Orchid Ha Long. The hotel is five-star, which is not uncommon for Ha Long.

    The prices are consistent: a double suite on the lower deck costs around 20-25 thousand rubles, and for a room on the upper deck you will have to pay from 30 to 45 thousand rubles.

    A budget tourist will also find affordable accommodation, for example, in a two-star hotel Quynh Yen in Ha Long the room costs only 600-1000 rubles. At the same time, the quality of service and living conditions are at a high level.

    Ha Long Bay is, of course, an amazing place. An increasing number of tourists are discovering Asia and a visit to this bay is a must-see item on the program. Moderate prices, friendly people, low crime rates and stunning nature.

    The popularity of the resort town of Halong, located on the shores of the bay of the same name, is growing from year to year. Tens of thousands of tourists come here to see with their own eyes the water surface of the Gulf of Tonkin, above which rises more than 3 thousand islands of varying heights and sizes. We will tell you about what a holiday in Ha Long is like in 2019, local attractions and entertainment in this article.

    The resort town of Halong is located in the northern part of Vietnam, a 3-hour drive from the capital. The city is young and was founded on an artificial dam that connected two peninsulas. All beaches of the resort are artificial.

    Ha Long Bay and city on the map

    The climate of the resort is soft and warm. The average daily temperature is 27 degrees, with hot and cooler seasons throughout the year. The first occurs from May to the end of September, when temperatures can reach 33 degrees. From October to early April it is not so hot in Halong, the average daily value is 22 degrees.

    Air temperature by month:

    Halong experiences a distinct rainy season - from June to September, the wettest months being July and August, when the number of days with precipitation reaches 15.

    As for the temperature of coastal waters, swimming is possible at any time, but from December to March the sea is cool by Asian standards.

    How warm the sea is in a particular month can be seen in the diagram:

    How to get there

    Halong does not have its own airport, so the most convenient way to get here is from Hanoi. The transfer will cost about $100 per car. The journey will take approximately 4 hours.

    Transport

    In Ha Long, the main public transport is buses. The ticket will cost 5,000 dong. But for a tourist, such an option can hardly be called convenient, traffic is poorly organized, and the schedule is not followed.

    As for more comfortable movement around the resort, the best option here is a taxi or a rented scooter.

    However, it must be remembered that international rights are not valid in Vietnam, so you should avoid encounters with the police. To do this, be sure to wear a helmet and drive at a fairly slow speed of 30-40 km/h.

    An interesting and very popular form of transport is water taxi. The drivers are mostly frail Vietnamese ladies, and each vehicle has its own license plate.

    There is also a completely colorful type of transport - a bicycle taxi, which is more often used as an attraction than as a means of transportation.

    Where to stay

    There are a lot of accommodation options at the resort. They differ in price, distance from the coastline and the range of services provided.

    The bulk of hotels and guest houses are located on the mainland of the resort, several on the neighboring island of Tuan Chau, which is connected to the coastline by a road bridge. Separately, it is worth highlighting those located in the Cat Ba National Park on a remote island.

    A unique and, it should be noted, not a cheap accommodation option, which is suitable for spending 1-2 nights, is a cabin on board a comfortable liner.

    Cabin room

    The most popular accommodation options are:

    1. On Cat Ba Island: LePont Bungalow Hostel (price - from 21 dollars, hereinafter the price is indicated for a 2-bed room), Cat Ba Sunrise Resort (from 116 dollars), Monkey Island Resort (from 81 dollars), Lan Homestay ($20), etc.;
    2. In Halong: Song Loc Luxury Hotel (from $49), Novotel Ha Long Bay Hotel (from $79), Ha Long Coral Bay Homestay (from $35) and others;
    3. Accommodation on board: Glamor Star Halong Cruise (from $234), Apricot Premium Cruise (from $251), Halong Apricot Legend Cruise (from $205) and others.

    Where to eat

    The basis of Vietnamese cuisine is rice. However, in Halong, a significant part of the dishes offered are seafood in various variations. There are plenty of restaurants offering similar dishes at the resort.

    Local delicacy – Candied fish with a sweet and sour taste. Dishes made from seashells and squid are popular. The spicy squid balls are worth trying.

    As for restaurants, there are many establishments here that are ready to serve tasty and inexpensive food.

    Among the popular ones are: Ngoc Linh Restaurant, Cafe Trung Nguyen, Queen Vosa and many others.

    You should definitely try the freshest seafood in floating restaurants.

    Shopping

    Ha Long does not have shopping centers similar to, for example, the capital Hanoi. The most you can buy here are various souvenirs and products of local craftsmen.

    The highlight of local shopping is the large number of traders who offer their goods from compact junks.

    From Halong it is worth bringing:

    1. Silk, as in many Vietnamese cities, can be purchased simply as a piece of fabric or ordered to have various items of clothing sewn;
    2. Wooden products, figurines and useful interior items;
    3. Souvenir crafts made of stone or metal.

    Don’t forget about inexpensive souvenirs depicting the main local attraction – Ha Long Bay.

    What to see and do in Ha Long

    Halong is, first of all, natural attractions.

    Ha Long Bay

    The main thing that attracts tens of thousands of travelers from all over the world to the resort is one of the most beautiful bays in the world. More than 3,000 islands of varying heights and sizes soar above the water surface of the bay, creating some kind of mystical and bewitching picture.

    Here literally everything deserves interest: islands with wild bays and beaches, caves and grottoes, rocky shores overgrown with lush vegetation.

    By the way, since 1994 the bay has been under the protection of UNESCO.

    The best time to travel around the bay is from May to January. At other times, winds and piercing rain are common here. This not only affects overall comfort, but also significantly reduces visibility.

    Exploring the Gulf of Tonkin isn't just a boat trip. One of the important components of a trip to Ha Long Bay is a visit to Cat Ba Island National Park. In addition to trekking and exploring the local caves, the island's beaches deserve attention, the best of them being Lan Ha Bay.

    You can visit the bay as part of an excursion or on your own.

    Worth knowing! An independent trip to Halong Bay will cost an order of magnitude more than an organized excursion.

    The non-group itinerary is structured as follows: From Halong city you need to book a place on a boat going to Cat Ba Island. During its journey to the island, the boat will pass through all the main attractions. The final point is Ben Beo Bay. Travel time – 6 hours. The cost is 130,000 dong, which in addition to travel includes an entrance ticket to the national park, of which Cat Ba is an integral part. Additional expenses include the organization of overnight accommodation and meals.

    Sea group excursions are most often booked in Hanoi, but in the resort town itself there are travel agencies offering similar cultural “expeditions”.

    The program is most often designed for 3 days with two overnight stays. It includes: transition from one island to another, as well as land entertainment: exploring grottoes and caves, climbing to the top of Titov, cycling through rice fields, feeding monkeys.

    Tourists are offered to spend the night first on the ship and then in a hotel on one of the islands, usually on Cat Ba. Meals are organized according to the "Half Board" scheme.

    There are many floating shops along the route that surround the ship at every stop; they sell a variety of food: fruits, snacks, drinks.

    It is worth considering that if you purchase alcohol from such a floating store, on board the ship you may be required to pay a kind of fine - the “right of cork” in the amount of 10 thousand dong per bottle.

    A sea excursion with a rich cultural program will cost a traveler an average of 400 thousand dong (the price is indicated when traveling from Hanoi).

    An alternative to a boat excursion, the most popular among tourists, is the opportunity to explore the bay from above.

    Northern Airport Flight Service Company operates helicopter tours from Hanoi. Departure at 8am from Gia Lam. Cost – 180 dollars, maximum number of passengers – 6 people.

    Other attractions

    Bizarre grottoes are not only on the island of Cat Ba. Closer Tuan Chau deserves attention, as well as caves such as Dou Guo (cave of wooden pillars) and the Heavenly Palace.

    And on the slope of Mount Bai Ho you can try to see carved poetic lines dedicated to the beauty of the 106-meter peak.

    Things to do in Ha Long

    In addition to the gastronomic pleasures offered by the many restaurants, here you can usefully spend time in one of the traditional spa salons.

    Water activities and sports are not particularly popular here, since the main beach of the resort is artificial, so there are no conditions for snorkeling and, especially, diving. However, here you can also find the opportunity to surf and play beach volleyball.

    As for nightlife, there is none at the resort as such. There are only a few bars that serve customers until late at night, including Blue Note, Flightless Bird and Noble House. All of them are located on Cat Ba Island.

    Beaches

    The main coastline has pebble beaches, not equipped, dirty and unsuitable for swimming. Within the city limits, you can go to the artificial beach in the Bai area, but the coastal waters here are muddy. Those wishing to swim should go to the island of Tuan Chau.

    Other interesting beaches are located on the various islands of the bay:

    • Wan Chai on Koto Island;
    • Lan Ha Bay, located east of Cat Ba and a number of others.

    In total, the Bay Area has more than a hundred secluded beaches suitable for swimming.

    What else you need to know about holidays in Ha Long

    1. Safety. The resort is quite calm. The most unpleasant thing that can happen is pickpocketing or petty theft. Therefore, it is not recommended to carry large sums of money or documents with you. And even more so, you shouldn’t store all this in your back pocket.
    2. Vaccinations. Before traveling to Halong, it is recommended to get vaccinated against tetanus, rabies, malaria and dengue fever. This point is especially important if there are children among the travelers.
    3. When traveling with children, it is important to choose the right hotel. It is necessary that there be a play area and other useful services, since at the resort itself there is nothing that could entertain a young traveler.

    Ha Long City is an excellent starting point for exploring a unique natural attraction of global scale, the bay of the same name with thousands of picturesque islands. And the actively developing infrastructure of the resort makes holidays in Halong more varied and comfortable.

    The main attraction of Halong, naturally, is the bay of the same name. The peculiarity of the local landscape made it possible to locate more than three thousand islands of varying lengths in the waters of the bay.

    Having a map of Vietnam with the sights of Ha Long at hand, you can easily find Grotto of Stone Pillars. From a distance it looks like a blue jellyfish. Stalactites hang from the ceiling like a stone waterfall. Stone flows on the walls create fantastic designs.

    Michel Renaudeau

    Separately marked on the map of Ha Long attractions Bai Tu Long Bay. In this place you can find islands with a very bizarre shape. For example, the island of Am looks like a teapot, and the island of Mat Kui looks like the head of a monster.

    rock "n" lola

    The most beautiful photos of Ha Long sights can be taken in Cave "Paradise". Considered to be the longest cave in Vietnam, it is located in the center of mountain limestone and is also surrounded by mountain limestone forests. Stalactites and stalagmites, which are located here, according to rough estimates, are at least 400 million years old.

    abruptdeparture

    You can learn about all the sights of Halong in Russian if you get the support of a Russian-speaking guide. The Halong landmark with the name observation deck of Titov Island. This most visited place in the city is named after the Soviet cosmonaut German Titov.

    In every guidebook you can find a description of such Ha Long attractions as Grotto of surprises. The place is unique not only for its palaces and numerous halls of bizarre shapes, but also for its magnificent garden in the back with a separate pond and an unforgettable mountain landscape.

    Ha Long Bay is located in the Gulf of Tonkin in the South China Sea. Thanks to the peculiarities of the local landscape, the bay is home to more than three thousand islands, each of which amazes with its picturesqueness. By renting a motor boat, you can travel here endlessly - and every time you will discover something new for yourself.

    The name of Ha Long Bay translated from Vietnamese means “the place where the dragon descended into the sea.” Local residents live in so-called "floating houses" and spend almost their entire lives on the water. Surprisingly, after many years of such a life, when they come down to earth, these people feel something similar to the symptoms of seasickness.

    Tuan Chau Island is considered the most civilized place in the bay - it is recommended to settle here.

    Sung Sot Grotto (Grotto of Surprises)

    This is one of the most picturesque grottoes in Halong Bay. When you enter the cave, a truly amazing world opens up in front of you - thousands of stalactites here form graceful columns. The imagination itself looks for the outlines of people, animals and trees in the bizarre bends of rocks...

    From the pier you will have to climb a stone staircase that leads to the entrance to the Sung Sot Grotto (Grotto of Surprises), located 25 meters above sea level. Inside the grotto, there are lanterns hanging along the paved road - they help you not to go astray and add a special mystery to the grotto. In the Sung Sot grotto there are two palaces, one of them is somewhat similar to a theater hall, from the ceiling of which hangs a large number of stalactites of bizarre shapes and sizes.

    You can get to the second chamber through a narrow passage. It can comfortably accommodate about 1,000 people inside. The rock near the entrance somewhat resembles a horse with a sword. Local legend says that after defeating the conquerors, Thanh Dong (Dong the Saint) helped drive away evil spirits and demons. He then ascended to Heaven, leaving his sword and horse on earth. This was done to intimidate the demons so that they would stay away from here. If you go deep into the grotto, you will find yourself in a “royal garden” with a pond and a miniature mountain landscape. Monkeys climb into this green corner on sunny days in search of fruit.

    What attractions of Halong did you like? Next to the photo there are icons, by clicking on which you can rate a particular place.

    Mount Bai Tu

    The height of the mountain above sea level is 106 meters. From a distance it looks like a medieval castle with towers or tongues of flame. Its ancient name is Truyen Dang, which means "She Who Radiates Light." With her amazing beauty she gave inspiration to many poets.

    The story that gave the mountain its modern name happened in 1468. The Vietnamese Emperor Le Thanh Ton, while touring his lands with an inspection, was so imbued with the beauty of these places that he even wrote poetry. Their text was carved into stone on the southern slope of the mountain.

    In 1729, the ruler of North Vietnam, Trinh Cuon, decided to follow such an unusual example, and soon his poems also appeared on the Bai Tu slope. Subsequently, several more poets immortalized their works in stone. It is not surprising that this place began to be called Mount Poema.

    Since then, there has been a tradition of coming to the foot of the mountain for creative inspiration. It is carefully observed by local poets. At the same time, they follow the ritual of releasing red balloons, to which are attached scrolls with the best lines of classical poets. For those who decide to overcome the steep climb to the top, a stunningly beautiful view of the surrounding area will open up.

    For some reason, the name of the grotto is associated with pelicans; supposedly these beautiful birds hid here during storms. In fact, everything is much more prosaic: the phrase “Bo Nau” means “brown dove.” And there is a completely reasonable explanation for this name: before, when tourists did not come here yet, the island was inhabited by thousands of pigeons. The man's presence disrupted their quiet life, and now all that remains of the pigeons is a mention in the name.

    The Bo Nau Grotto is not very large, only about 200 square meters. meters. Its entrance resembles the gaping mouth of a mysterious monster, where stalactites form a row of ominous fangs. Vaulted ceilings form something like arches. Bizarre stone growths look like figures of some fairy-tale creatures. Here are three fairies whispering about something, bowing their heads to each other, here are two serious men playing chess, and the third, apparently, acts as a judge. Stalactites hang from the walls and arches, from the tips of which a salty drop of water rarely falls, allowing the stalagmites to stretch upward. While inside the grotto, you can observe a panorama of Ha Long Bay with its islets and fishing boats.

    Castaway Island

    Among the many Vietnamese islands, special attention should be paid to Castaway Island, which is famous for its golden sand and limestone cliffs surrounding the island. All this is against the backdrop of a dense jungle, which perfectly complements the overall picture.

    Castaway Island is ready to offer its guests a whole list of entertainment - wakeboarding, rock climbing, volleyball, table tennis and much more. And at the same time, no one will forbid you to relax on the shore of the azure sea and thoroughly enjoy the sound of the sea surf.

    Cave "Paradise"

    Thien Duong Cave was discovered recently, in 2005. The first to enter its gloomy “corridors” were British speleologists from the Cave Exploration Association. This is the longest cave in Vietnam, it stretches for more than 30 kilometers. Thien Duong is located in the middle of a limestone mountain, surrounded by the forests of Phong Nha-Ke Bang National Park.

    In the cave you can touch and photograph four-meter-high stalactites and stalagmites that are many thousands of years old. There are stalactite columns, a stone arch, and underground streams. According to rough estimates, the Paradise Cave is about 400 million years old. Its width is from 30 to 150 meters, and its height is up to 80 meters, and the temperature inside always fluctuates around 20 degrees.

    The cave was opened for tourists in 2010.

    Thuan Island

    Usually tourists get to the island by a special bus that goes from the city of Ha Long, which is not far from Hanoi. You can also get here by ferry, although the bus in this sense is a little more convenient for two reasons - a beautiful view from the bridge and saving time.

    Here tourists will find a wide choice of entertainment: excursions along the island by boat, visiting the Dau Go cave, where their eyes will see incredibly beautiful views of multi-colored ancient stalactites, a dolphinarium, which is perfect for a family holiday, water skiing and jet skiing, and, of course, swimming in warm and clear water of the Gulf of Tonkin.

    On the island there is a large selection of hotels from three to five stars, as well as restaurants, cafes and spas where you can get massages, manicures and many beauty treatments.

    Tourists are always welcome here.

    Ceramics factory

    Halong is adjacent to many islands, which are recognized by the international organization UNESCO as a national treasure. You can feel your unique charm and color here - the evergreen islands surrounded by the waters of the Gulf of Tonkin look unusually picturesque. Tourists on special pleasure boats spend hours exploring the surrounding area, after which they are invited to visit the ceramics factory. Here, for more than 200 years, the bulk of porcelain products in all of Vietnam have been produced - from decorative ceramic figurines to elegant cutlery. Tourists have the opportunity to observe the production process and visit the museum of ceramic products, located right there in the factory building, and look at the best works of local craftsmen.

    Ha Long Bay, located in the Gulf of Tonkin of the South China Sea, is proud and deservedly included in the list of UNESCO World Heritage Sites. According to tourists, this is one of the most beautiful places on Earth, which is definitely worth seeing at least once in your life. The bay is impressive in its size, replete with numerous islands, of which there are about 3 hundred, as well as rocks, cliffs and caves. Translated from the local language, “Halong” means “where the dragon descended into the sea.” According to legend, many years ago, a fire-breathing animal descended from heaven to earth in the Quang Ninh province area and hid underneath it through caves, making tunnels for itself with powerful claws. Then the water filled the area, leaving only small areas of land.

    Halong Bay is so famous and popular that it attracts the attention of tourists all year round, but it is generally accepted that from February to April there is bad weather, expressed in winds and constantly drizzling light rain, which does not contribute to comfort, and also makes the photos not so bright and rich, like other times of the year. Like other similar places, over the many years of its existence, Halong Bay has become overgrown with numerous legends and tales. Guides always tell tourists the most interesting of them during a sea voyage around the bay. The main advantage of such an excursion is the exploration of the local caves and grottoes, many of which have their own name and rich history.

    A fair share of the color of Halong Bay is given by more than 1.5 thousand people living in houseboats and forming four fishing villages, whose main industry is fishing. Fishing boats can be seen everywhere here, as they serve as the main tool in any household. Ha Long also abounds in wild beaches where you can sunbathe and swim. Lan Ha Bay on Cat Ba Island is perfect for this purpose, with clear water and a flat sandy surface. The underwater world here is also extremely rich, rich in exotic inhabitants. During an excursion, guides, as a rule, specially allocate time for tourists so that they can have a good time, taking a break from contemplating the surrounding beauty.

    An independent trip here with a trip around Ha Long Bay seems to be a very expensive undertaking, so most tourists, in terms of savings, prefer to use the services of travel agencies. Wealthy adventurers spare no expense on a helicopter excursion, which is several times more expensive than a sea excursion, but endlessly fascinating. However, regardless of the method and choice of route, a trip around the bay can bring a lot of positive emotions and leave an impression.
