We did not understand who bites, small plankton or tiny jellyfish.

Entry into the water is pleasant and smooth, the bottom is sandy without stones and shells. I would even say that the entry and bottom here are just perfect. To a depth of "neck" meters 30-40. There are specially fenced safe areas for swimming, where lifeguards are on duty and boats do not swim. But at low tide, the water leaves and swimming is complicated by the fact that it becomes very shallow.

There are generally few tourists on Kamala when compared with the most famous beaches - Kata, Karon and Patong. The resort is not very popular among Russian-speaking tourists. When we arrived here, I heard Russian speech only on the third day. And I thought that Phuket is the second Pattaya in terms of the number of compatriots. Mostly Europeans, Germans and British, and the Chinese, of course, rest here. An American accent is also sometimes heard.

At the end of November, with the onset of the high season, more Russians appeared. Now on the beach, nationalities are mixed in approximately the same proportions. However, according to my observations, the Russians on this beach are not some kind of cattle, but rather decent people. By the evening the water comes again. Sometimes the tide is out early in the morning. I remotely determined whether it was low tide or high tide by the level of the water in the stinky river that flows into the sea. Rivers fill up at high tide and dry up at low tide.

How to get to Kamala

On the public transport in principle, you can get there cheaper, but it will take longer, since you first have to travel by minibus across the entire island to Phuket Town (100 baht), and then change to a Kamal bus (40 baht). Total 140 baht per person. If you are well oriented in Phuket, then you can shorten the path, get off right after the Heroes Monument, cross the road and catch a bus to Kamala. It is understandable, all the benefits of civilization are at hand, at the same time, the sea is within easy reach. In addition to those who moved here, there are now many package tourists.

The sand on Kamala is white, like grains of salt. There are many hotels on the beach line and the beach area next to them belongs to them. Accordingly, sand quality and purity can vary significantly.

The wide line of Kamala Bay favors the winds that create big waves. To the north of the beach, they rise to heights of up to 3 m, and approaching the shore, they stumble upon a network of underwater reefs and rise even higher. During the monsoon season, red warning flags appear on the beach. Swimming at this time is dangerous. Strong waves can hit you and carry you away from the shore.

There are not so many sun loungers on the beach. In the most visited areas of the beach (center and north), you can rent a sunbed with an umbrella for a standard 100 baht. The entire coastline (1 lane) is occupied by expensive hotels, if we are talking about the central part of the beach. And hotels occupy all the space from the coast to the main road, which goes far from the coast. There are almost no hotels along the coast in the northern part of the beach, instead there are wastelands fenced with fences (future hotels?). And there the hotels will all be across the road from the beach, and their density is also small.

In terms of prices, the farther from the coast, the cheaper, which is logical. You can even find a hostel for as low as 200 baht per bed. On the other hand, luxury hotels with unsurpassed beauty views of Kamala Bay can cost more than 15,000 baht per day.
